Rania Zakaria (Rani Rizz) is a community-oriented DJ proudly hailing from Indiana.
Seeking backwards: My sonic journey formally began on college radio airwaves in Philly (WQHS)[1]. Back in my hometown, I created emerald.mp3 on 99.1 WQRT-LP Indianapolis and shared my first proper blends[2]. The vibrant, welcoming, Naptown scene opened doors for me to spin everywhere from fine art fair[3] to hip-hop festival stage[4]. I find meaning in the cultural preservation aspect of DJing, regularly engaging in research to understand those who came before us[5].
Seeking forward: I'm currently deep in my vinyl bag and primarily spin groovy, soulful house. Across genres, I love releases from 1995-2007 and jazzy instrumentation. I organize a free day party in North Beach[6] and I've played on Fault Radio[7] in the Mission.
